Red Cross Stages “Splish-Splash” First Aid Class:

The Santa Monica Chapter of the American Red Cross will give “Splish-Splash,” free first aid classes, Saturday, July 23, at the Santa Monica municipal swimming pool on the campus of Santa Monica College at 1700 Pico Boulevard.

Two classes will be offered – 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Participants will be taught the basics of first aid by certified American Red Cross Instructors.

The classes will offer instruction in recognizing an emergency, communicating with Emergency Medical Services and Paramedics, checkng for consciousness, recognizing injuries, controlling bleeding, caring for muscle, bone and joint injuries, treating burns and caring for sudden illnesses.As class size is limited, the Red Cross suggests that people pre-register by calling the Santa Monica chapter at (310) 394-3773.
