Scenes from a Festival:

The 29th annual Festival of the Chariots rolled down Main Street in Santa Monica and Ocean Front Walk in Venice to Windward Plaza on Sunday, August 7.

In the traditon, the three 50-foot tall chariots were pulled by hand.

At Windward, Indian culture was celebrated with music, a dramatic performance, displays of Indian art, culture and spirituality and a free feast for 20,000.The Festival of the Chariots derives from an ancient festival that takes place annually in the Indian holy town of Jagannatha Puri.
