Coming Soon: A One-Day Tour of Wilshire:

“Curating the City” is a new Los Angeles Conservancy program.

Funded by Getty Center, it is designed to turn Los Angeles into a living museum.

The first installment of “Curating the City” will be a one-day, self-guided architectural tour of Wilshire Boulevard, which stretches from Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica, through Brentwood, Westwood, Beverly Hills, the Miracle Mile, the Wilshire District and MacArthur Park to downtown Los Angeles, and features some of the city’s best-known and most significant architectural icons.

Six such sites on Wilshire will be open for docent-led tours, including the Spanish Colonial Revival Miles Memorial Playhouse in Santa Monica.The tour, on Sunday, October 2, is being co-sponsored by the Santa Monica Conservancy. Tickets are limited and may be ordered at www.laconservancy.org or (213) 623-2489. They’re $25 for conservancy members, or $35 for non-members.
