Homecoming To End SMC Football Season:

The Santa Monica College football season will end with a Homecoming game Saturday night at 7 against Compton College.

SMC has a 1-8 record and isn’t in consideration for a bowl bid in contrast to last season when the Corsairs won their last five games, but were still bypassed.

In its latest game, SMC lost to first place Glendale College, 50-14.

“We played well the previous week in a win over East Los Angeles but it didn’t carry over,” said Coach Robert Taylor. “We had flashes but not consistency.”

One Corsair touchdown came on an 85-yard interception return by Marlon Yates, the other on a 65-yard pass from quarterback Colin Clancy to Rodrick Montgomery.

Clancy passed for 126 yards, but one of his passes was intercepted and returned for a touchdown. Lavon Macon ran for 85 yards.Compton will arrive for Saturday’s game with a 5-4 record.
