JAMS Students Are Grammy Guests:

12 students from John Adams Middle School were special guests at the sixth annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards at the Shrine Auditorium on November 5.

The seventh and eighth graders were chosen to attend the award show based on their exceptional achievements in Coca-Cola’s Valued Youth Program, which identifies junior high and high school students in at-risk situations and enlists them as tutors for elementary school youngsters who are also struggling in school.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide this opportunity to some very special students,” said Recording Academy® and GRAMMY Foundation® President Neil Portnow. “We have a deep commitment to the community and are both pleased and proud to recognize those who overcome obstacles to achieve their goals.”Founded in 1957 and headquartered in Santa Monica, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Inc., also known as The Recording Academy, is an organization of musicians, producers, engineers and recording professionals that is dedicated to improving the cultural condition and quality of life for music and its makers.
