SM Temporary Library Ends Its Run:

Santa Monica Public Library’s Temporary Library at 1324 Fifth Street will close Monday, December 5, so that materials and staff can move into the new Main Library.

The Temporary Library, which contained about one-third of the contents of the old Main Library, filled in during the demolition of the old Main Library and construction of the new 104,000 square foot Main Library, which is scheduled to open Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 10 a.m.

During the move to the new Main Library, service is available at the Montana Avenue Branch Library, at 1704 Montana Avenue; Fairview Branch Library at 2101 Ocean Park Boulevard, and Ocean Park Branch Library at 2601 Main Street.

Branch library hours are: noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Branch libraries are closed Fridays and Sundays.

The Santa Monica Public Library’s website www.smpl.org offers access to the online catalogue, library account information, on-line databases, e-mail reference, and AskNow, an interactive reference service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
