L.A. Gospel Jubilee Presents “A Holy Christmas”:

A highlight of the inspirational series, L.A. Gospel Jubilee, “A Holy Christmas,” featuring Jean Shy singing Mahalia Jackson Christmas Songs, will take place on Sunday, December 18, at 5 p.m. at the Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Santa Monica.

Shy’s appearance in August at the church inspired the series, which now takes place on the third Sunday of every month.

Born in Chicago, Shy’s career is rooted in Gospel music. Her musical influences range from Mahalia Jackson to Elvis Presley, Ella Fitzgerald and Dinah Washington to Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight and other great Gospel, jazz and soul Artists.

After a successful run in this country, Shy went to Europe, made Germany her second home, and formed her own band, The Shy Guys. For nearly 20 years, they toured Europe, performing at major festivals, concert halls and churches.She returned to this country in 2004 and is currently promoting her new Gospel CD release, “One Day.” She and the Shy Guys will go on tour in February.
