California Universities Establish Western Institute of Nanoelectronics:

UCLA, UCSB, UCB and Sanford are joining together to create the Western Institute of Nanoelectronics. It will be one of the world’s largest joint research programs focusing on the pioneering technology called “spintronics.” The Institute’s headquarters will be located on the UCLA campus. It is being established with grants of $18.2 million from IBM, Intel, Texas Instruments, AMD, Freescale and MICRON, as well as a UC Discovery Grant.

Santa Monica Courthouse Postpones Cosby Deposition:

A judge in Santa Monica agreed today to postpone next week’s planned deposition of Bill Cosby in connection with a lawsuit filed by a woman who claims the comedian sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion in 1974 when she was 15 years old.
