A community forum on gang violence will be held on Saturday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at John Adams Middle School at 2425 16th Street. The forum is a follow-up to the two workshops held in February and April last year and is being sponsored by State Senator Sheila Kuehl, the City of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD).The forum will begin with an update from the organizations that agreed to be “action partners” at last year’s workshops. The partners are the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, the SMMUSD, the Employment Development Department, Friends of Sunset Park, Pico Neighborhood Association, Santa Monica Human Relations Council, Los Angeles County Probation Department, the City of Santa Monica, Santa Monica College and the State Building and Construction Trades Council of California.Members of the public will have a chance to comment, after which the next steps will be discussed. To RSVP or for more information, contact Hilda Garcia at (310) 441–9084 or e-mail her at hilda.garcia@sen.ca.gov.
