Villaraigosa Salutes the Artists Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa honored the 86 Los Angeles artists and Pritzker Prize winning Santa Monica architect Thom Mayne, whose works will be shown in two upcoming exhibitions in Paris – “Los Angeles 1955-1985: The Birth of an Artistic Capital” and “Morphosis: Continuities of the Incomplete” at a press conference and reception last Friday at the Caltrans Building in downtown Los Angeles.The exhibitions, which will open March 8 and run through July 17 at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, will recognize Los Angeles as having made the most significant contribution to modern art in the second half of the 20th century.Attending the reception were Consul General of France Philippe Larrieu, Scott Stover, Executive Director, Pompidou Foundation, and city museum and art school officials, as well as the participating artists and architects.
