Stephanie Carrillo, New Roads’ star pitcher, threw a perfect game April 24 in a 13-0 victory at Windward.
Carrillo has been well known in softball since she played for the North Venice Junior Girls World Series team in 2000.
She has received an academic and athletic scholarship to Post University in Connecticut.
New Roads is on a nine-game winning streak. The most recent wins have been over Central City (17-0), Rolling Hills Prep (20-0), Community Harvest Charter (8-4), Ribet Academy (15-0) and Providence (6-2).
The Jaguars’ overall record is 12-3, including 3-0 in the Harbor League.
The Santa Monica High softball team took a major step toward repeating as Ocean League champion by defeating second place Culver City twice last week, 7-0 and 7-1.
In other recent games, Samohi defeated Westchester, 6-0 and lost to San Pedro, 10-0 and Paramount, 9-1. The Vikings are 15-5 overall, including 5-0 in the league.
Hannah-Rose Peters has been the team’s primary pitcher all season and has a 10-4 record. Alyson Herman is 4-1.
St. Monica lost to Culver City, 2-1 and Bishop Montgomery, 12-2. The Mariners are 9-9 overall, including 1-4 in the Del Rey League.
Crossroads lost to Whittier Christian, 7-0. The Roadrunners are 2-8 overall, including 1-2 in the Alpha League.
Brentwood lost to Archer, 6-1 and to Grace Brethren, 19-3. The Eagles are 8-6 overall, including 3-3 in the Delphic League. Logan Kinsey and Kelly Gleischman are both batting .400.
Malibu lost to Carpenteria, 10-2 and to Santa Paula, 6-3. The Shars’ overall record is 9-8 but they’re 0-3 in the Frontier League.
In the LA City Section, Venice has made a remarkable comeback after losing its first eight games of the season. Now the Gondoliers are 9-0 in the Western League and have wrapped up the championship. Last week Venice defeated Palisades, 3-0 and Fairfax, 9-6. Sarina Dominguez is batting .458 and Michelle Ayer has 25 RBI.
Palisades split two games with University, losing 2-1 and winning, 10-0. The Dolphins are 6-9-1 overall, including 3-5-1 in the Western League.
Boys
St. Monica defeated Maranatha, 9-8, lost to Bishop Montgomery, 7-2, defeated Bishop Montgomery, 9-6 and emerged with an 8-10 record, including 4-5 in league games.
Crossroads defeated Marshall of Pasadena twice, 4-1 and 10-4. Kyle Fishburn is batting .412 and Devon Antin .378.
New Roads had a 14-3 win over Shalhevet.
Brentwood lost to Montclair Prep, 6-4 and defeated Harvard Westlake, 8-3. The Eagles’ record is 9-11, including 2-4 in league games.
In the LA City Section, Palisades shut out both University and Venice by 8-0 scores but lost to University, 12-1. The Dolphins are 13-10 overall, including 8-2 in the Western League. Cole Cook has pitched four wins and Johnny Bromberg three.
Venice had a pair of 10-0 wins over Fairfax and is 7-13 overall, including 6-4 in the Western League. Jesse Buteyn and Graham Davis have each pitched three victories.
