Several Westside baseball and softball teams have earned berths in the CIF playoffs.

The featured contest locally will be Santa Monica High’s Division 3 softball game against Long Beach Millikan, the team that eliminated them from last season’s playoffs in the second round.

Again Samohi is the Ocean League champion with an undefeated league record. This time Millikan is a third place team.

It is anticipated that Samohi coach Debbie Skaggs will choose ace pitcher Hannah-Rose Peters to start the game.

Samohi has a tough draw and could have to play powerful Oaks Christian in the second round.

New Roads, which had an 18-3 regular season record and won the Harbor League, will have a home game against Rolling Hills Prep, the third place team from its league.

In baseball, Santa Monica will be on the road Friday, playing a Division 4 opener at San Dimas. Samohi finished second in the Ocean League and San Dimas finished second in the Valle Vista League.

Two Westside baseball teams were chosen for lower level playoff games.

In Division 6, Crossroads will play Friday at Capistrano Valley Christian. Both are second place teams – Crossroads from the Delphic and its opponent from the Academy.

In Division 7, New Roads will play Friday at Los Pinos. New Roads finished second in the Harbor League while Los Pinos is the Freedom League champion.

Second round games are scheduled Tuesday at sites to be determined.
