New Roads outlasted Crossroads in a dramatic five-set volleyball match last week, 25-16, 17-25, 28-26, 19-25, 15-13 in the Crossroads gym.
It was the first time New Roads has defeated Crossroads in the four years Lisa Marshall has been the coach.
Ana Ramirez of New Roads had nine kills and eight aces. Mary Lou Gonzalez contributed 11 kills, three aces, two digs and one block. Erika Alvarez had four kills and one ace.
The match lasted two hours and was undecided until the final few minutes.
In another match last week New Roads defeated Ribet Academy, 25-7, 25-13, 25-13 as Ramirez had three kills and four aces, Gonzalez had eight kills, two aces and two digs and Caitlyn West contributed three kills, seven aces and two digs.
New Roads has a 6-2 overall record, including 4-0 in the Harbor League. Crossroads has a 4-2 record, including 1-0 in the Gold Coast League.
Crossroads has lost to another Santa Monica school, Lighthouse Christian, and defeated Archer of Brentwood.
