New Roads Eliminated From Volleyball Playoffs:

The New Roads girls’ volleyball team won its CIF Division 5AA volleyball playoff opener in a thrilling five-set match with Hillcrest Christian of Granada Hills.

The scores were 29-27, 25-11, 18-25, 22-25, 16-14.

However, New Roads’ season came to a close in a second round loss to Desert Christian, one of the division’s top teams, 25-18, 25-12, 25-22, on Saturday, November 11.

Ana Ramirez had 12 kills, five aces, one dig and two blocks in the first round win. Erika Alvarez contributed six kills, three aces, seven digs and three blocks. Mary Lou Gonzalez had 15 kills, one ace, four digs and three blocks.

In the second round loss Mary Lou Gonzalez had 10 kills and five digs and Ana Ramirez had eight kills, two digs and three blocks.

New Roads entered the playoffs as the No. 2 team in the Harbor League.
