Residents Protest Misleading Ads:

Over 100 Santa Monicans joined forces to show their displeasure with the Beverly Hills-based Edward Thomas Management Company’s negative campaign against Councilmember Kevin McKeown.  The community members picketed Shutters by the Beach and Casa del Mar hotels, both owned on Edward Thomas on Sunday, October 29.

“It’s mind-boggling that [CEO] Dubois and his company would pour such an incredible amount of money into this race. Businesses only invest money to earn a return on it. The only way they can make this kind of money back is to get a council majority that is pro-development, and Kevin is standing in their way,” said Ellen Brenan, a Santa Monica resident at the protest Sunday.  “We are demanding a stop to this reprehensible campaign.”

As of this writing, the campaign against McKeown has cost in the $1 million range, while the councilmember has raised approximately $12,000.
