Santa Monica Means Business:

Allied Post Audio’s entry, “Second Term,” has won Best of Industry in the 2006 Create Awards competition in the category of Film and Video Support, Voice Over. This year’s competition brought in over 1,500 entries from across the nation that were judged by over 20 leading professionals in multiple creative fields.  The awards are produced by the publishers of Create Magazine, a quarterly publication for creative professionals.  Allied Post Audio’s owner, Woody Woodhall said, “Second Term was great fun for us to do.  We’ve done several pieces with Evan and Gregg Spiridellis of JibJab Media, Inc. and it’s always creative and challenging material.  This award is the icing on the cake as we open the doors of our new Santa Monica multi-room audio post facility.”  www.alliedpost.com

Boingo Wireless, the Santa Monica-based wholesale WI-FI network aggregator, this week announced a roaming agreement with Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (SingTel) adding more than 347 locations in Singapore to the Boingo Roaming System.  SingTel is one of the largest communications providers in Asia, and its WI-FI network offers Boingo subscribers additional access points in a country that is vital to doing business in the region. Major Asian business hubs in the Boingo network also include China and Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines.  “This partnership is another step in our aggressive expansion of the Boingo network throughout the Asia-Pacific region, as we continue to answer the communications needs of our business customers traveling through major commerce hubs,” said Allen Pan, Boingo Director – Asia. www.boingo.com

Genius Products, LLC, of Santa Monica announced this week that it has entered into an agreement with Discovery Communications, Inc. (DCI) to be the exclusive home entertainment distributor of Discovery Kids programming. The announcement was made by Genius’ President and CEO Trevor Drinkwater and Chairman Stephen K. Bannon, and by Marjorie Kaplan, General Manager & Executive Vice President, Discovery Kids, a division of DCI.  Under the terms of the multi-year agreement, which marks Discovery Kids’ first ever home entertainment distribution agreement, Genius will be the exclusive distributor in the U.S. for Discovery Kids branded television properties, including content from the Ready Set Learn! block on TLC and Discovery Kids Channel.  “We continue to expand and diversify our leading entertainment offerings by partnering with industry leading content providers such as Discovery Kids,” stated Trevor Drinkwater. “Discovery is a well-respected brand whose channels and programming are synonymous with excellence.”  Genius plans an aggressive rollout of the Discovery Kids properties beginning in February 2007, delivering a minimum of 16 titles per year.
