Palisades Girls Win City Tennis Title:

The Palisades High girl’s tennis team has won the L.A. City Championship for the 19th time in school history.

Palisades came from behind by winning the final three matches to post a 4-3 victory over Taft in the championship match at the Balboa Sports Complex in Encino, representing another triumph in the career of veteran coach Bud Kling. He has coached 13 of the team’s championships.

Palisades’ overall season record was 18-2.The team of Audrey Ashrab and Lauren Pugatch won the deciding set. Also winning key matches were Katy Nikolova in singles and the doubles teams of Rose Schloff and Alex Kling and Kathryn Cullen and Erika Lee.

Alex Kling is the coach’s daughter.

Palisades defended a city championship it won a year ago even though seven seniors graduated from that squad.

In the Invitational Bracket final, Venice defeated Bell, 5-2. Venice’s season record was 13-3.
