SMC Gets Experience In Tournament Play:

The Santa Monica College men’s basketball team has been gaining experience in tournament play and has a 4-7 record going into one more event, the College of the Desert Tournament.

The Corsairs have played a challenging schedule. Coach Trevor Shickman’s team has lost twice to powerful Santa Ana College – the first time by 13 points and the second time by three in overtime. The Corsairs had a quality win over Irvine Valley College, 59-57.

Freshmen Arthur Braswell and Noah Gottlieb were all-tournament selections at the San Jose City College tournament in which SMC finished second.

Montell Williams and Keivan Cross were chosen players of the game in other contests.

SMC will begin Western State Conference Southern Division play in January.
