Sweetest Place in Town:

This year’s Gingerbread City at the Fairmont-Miramar Hotel includes 22 buildings, a moving mini ski gondola, a toy train and is 12 feet wide by 14 feet long. It took 500 pounds of sugar, 50 pounds of candy and 500 people hours to put the whole town together.

Seven local schools were involved in creating visually stunning homes: Edison Language Academy, Franklin Elementary, Grant Elementary, Hill & Dale Family Learning Center, John Muir Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary and Trinity Baptist Children’s Center.

Edison won for “Best Decorated,” chosen by the public.

Gingerbread City will remain intact through December 29. For those interested in sponsoring one of the structures, call 310.576.7777 for more information. Prices range from $150-$350. All proceeds will go towards the Virginia Avenue Project.
