Local Senior in Arts Competition:

Santa Monica resident Samuel Alper will be heading to Miami for the annual youngARTS Week being held January 8-14.

Alper, a senior at Harvard-Westlake, will be one of 141 teenagers participating in the event, which includes a competition and the opportunity to take classes with renowned artists.

Alper is a playwright, whose work has been performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Stickman, a one-act play, will have its debut in January at the DeLand Theatre Festival in Florida.
