RUBIN SENDS PEACE AND LOVE TO PRESIDENT:

On Valentine’s Day, peace activist Jerry Rubin began a month-long fast in protest of the war in Iraq. He will only be drinking water, herb tea and juice.

Also on Valentine’s Day, Rubin put out a 1,000-foot “Peace and Love, Not War and Violence” scroll on the Third Street Promenade. Rubin welcomes anyone to pen a peace message on the scroll, which he will send to President Bush on March 17, the fourth anniversary of the beginning of the war and the day many anti-war protests are scheduled across the country.

In the coming weeks, Rubin will be bringing the scroll “to schools, peace events and various community meetings.”
