Venice Takes Charge in Western League Softball:

Venice handed Palisades its first loss of the softball season Thursday, March 22, and took command of the Western League race.

Venice won the game at Palisades, 7-3, improving its record to 9-2-1 overall and 3-0 in league play.

The Gondoliers’ other league wins have been over University, 21-0, and Westchester, 6-3.

Danielle Mestas is Venice’s leading hitter at .583, and Georgie Dominguez is batting .526.

As a pitcher Mestas has a 4-1 record and 1.2 ERA. The other five wins have been earned by Gabrielle Dominguez.

Palisades won its first six games of the season but is now 0-1 in the league.

In another Westside softball game on Thursday, Crossroads won at St. Monica, 7-5.

Brentwood defeated Whitney, 14-4, and has a 4-2 record.
