Missing Persons, June 22, doors open 8pm

Back in the ’80s, LA’s Missing Persons pretty much defined the New Wave movement. Lead singer and ex-Playboy Bunny Dale Bozzio, adorned in her eye-popping pink coif, sci-fi garb and Plexiglas bras, helped make them a natural for heavy rotation on MTV (back when they actually played videos!). Songs like “Walking in LA,” “Words” and “Mental Hopscotch” struck a sweet chord with music fans and made their debut album, 1982’s Spring Session M, a hit.

A Conversation with Pharrell Williams and Elvis Mitchell, June 23, 8pm

Under the moniker The Neptunes, music super-producer Pharrell Williams and partner Chad Hugo are responsible for wildly successful albums from artists such as Justin Timberlake, Usher, Nelly and Mary J. Blige. Williams is also quite comfortable acting as both singer and songwriter. This is evidenced by his work with top talent like Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Babyface and Jay-Z. On this evening, Williams will be in conversation with Elvis Mitchell, host of KCRW’s The Treatment.
