Venice Can Claim Title By Beating Fairfax:

The Venice High football team was recently stripped of its 2006 Western League championship for using an ineligible player but the Gondoliers can earn the 2007 title by winning at Fairfax Friday, November 9.

The game loomed as the title decider since neither had lost a league game until Fairfax was upset by Westchester on Thursday, November 1.

Hamilton was declared the 2006 league champion due to Venice forfeiting several games. The Gondoliers admitted they didn’t realize a player who had transferred into school wasn’t eligible.

Venice still has hopes of winning the LA City championship this season.
