Thursday, November 15, 9 p.m., $7-10
Zanzibar, 1301 5th Street, 310.451.2221
Known for his work as a DJ, Carlos Niño, one of the original DJs at renowned Internet station dublab.com and a former host at KPFK, entered the world of production when he helmed the recording of “Horace” by Dwight Trible (Pharoah Sanders Quintet, Horace Tapscott’s Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra). The collaboration went so well that the two reunited for the recording of Dwight Trible and the Life Force Trio’s album Love Is the Answer and, more recently, as part of the Afrobeat collective Build an Ark, whose album Dawn was released last September. Niño and Trible will join forces once again for this special engagement at Zanzibar’s standing Thursday night party Afro Funké.
