Manhunt

Wednesday, December 5 at 1:00 a.m. – Ozone and Longfellow Streets – Officers on patrol noticed a man with a flashlight crouching between two parked cars. When he saw the police, he jumped on a bicycle and fled. The officers radioed in, and police established a perimeter and brought in two canines. They found the fellow hiding under a parked car in the 700 block of Machado Drive, where he was arrested for possession of burglary tools (flashlight, multi-tool whatchamacallit, pocket knife, Allen wrench set, and clear latex gloves) and for probation violation.

More Hiding

Tuesday, December 4 at 6:45 a.m. – 1200 block of Idaho Avenue – A citizen was walking to his parked car, when a man approached him, pointed a handgun at him, and demanded his money and his keys. The victim complied, and the suspect fled. The victim called the police with a description of the suspect and his direction of travel. A motorcycle officer saw the suspect hiding at the rear of a residence in the 900 block of 14th Street. He detained the suspect, who was then identified by the victim in a field show-up and arrested for armed robbery. The keys and the money ($47) were recovered. The gun was not found.

Still More Hiding

Thursday, November 29 at 9:45 p.m. – 700 block of Ashland Avenue – Neighbors heard loud banging noises coming from a house under construction and called police. Responding officers saw that the door had been forced open. A search of the premises eventually uncovered two persons – an adult male and a juvenile female, both from Los Angeles – hiding on the roof behind the chimney. They were arrested and charged with burglary.

Saturday, December 1 at 2:55 a.m. – 1433 Wilshire Boulevard – A man (“Suspect”) walked into Izzy’s Deli and approached a booth occupied by four people. An argument ensued. Suspect punched a man seated in the booth in the face with a closed fist. Another customer grabbed Suspect in a bear hug, but Suspect broke loose, began throwing plates, and took up a dinner knife, before he was eventually restrained by witnesses. The police were called, and Suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
