For 11 years, Santa Monica artist Anthony Schmitt has constructed a Christmas tree built of shopping carts at Edgemar on Main Street. Schmitt uses shopping carts because they are a symbol both of abundance and of those less fortunate. This year, there are 83 shopping carts soaring 33 feet in the air.
