Venice Falls Short in Playoffs:

After finishing in a third place tie in the Western League, the Venice High boys’ basketball team reached the semi-finals of the LA City Invitational Division playoffs.

However, the Gondoliers were eliminated in a 53-50 loss to fellow Western League member University High on Friday, February 22.

Venice had won earlier playoff games from Garfield and Roosevelt in the tournament involving the teams ranked 17th through 32nd.

The first 16 rated teams competed in the Championship Division. Taft High defeated Fairfax in that title game.

Isaiah Todd was Venice’s leading scorer against University with 11 points. Venice’s final record was 16-15.
