LOCAL GYMNASTS CAPTURE THE GOLD:

With the Olympics around the corner, the Broadway Gymnastics (BG) Girls’ Teams’ remains focused and excited to compete. BG’s Girl’s Levels 4-8 Team, located in Los Angeles, CA competed in five competitions throughout the Spring Season and won five 1st Place Team Championship Trophies. The individual athletes were awarded 88 Gold, Silver and Bronze All-Around and individual event medals.

For the second year in a row, BG’s Level 8 Team won 1st place at the Surf City Classic Competition in Costa Mesa, CA. The Level 8 team includes 3 gymnasts from Santa Monica – Ava Hulsman, Sonya Meraz and Harper Miller. Hulsman won 1st place All-Around, 1st on Vault and Bars, tied for 1st on Floor and won 2nd on Beam. Meraz won 2nd All-Around and 1st on Beam and Miller won 3rd All-Around and tied for 1st place on Floor. Krista Knighton, Level 7, of Santa Monica placed 1st on Beam.

All of BG’s Level 8 Gymnasts qualified to Region 1 Championships, which were held in Long Beach, CA April 26th. Hulsman was awarded the Gold Medal Championship on Vault and Meraz won 2nd All-Around and 2nd on Beam.

BG’s Level 5 and Level 8 Teams’ won two 1st place trophies at the 2008 Black Diamond Winter Classic in Park City, Utah. From the Level 8’s: Hulsman won 1st All-Around and on Vault, Bars and Floor and 2nd on Beam. Meraz won 2nd All-Around and 1st on Beam scoring a 9.90, almost a Perfect 10! Miller won 3rd on Bars and 2nd on Floor. Alessandra Marenzi (Level 5) of Santa Monica placed 3rd All-Around, and 1st on Beam.

BG’s Level 4 and Level 5 Teams each won the 1st Place Team Championship Trophy at the Dreams of Gold Competition March 16, 2008. Madison DeYoung of Santa Monica, Level 5, won 1st place All-Around and won 1st place on every event! Chloe Meshel-Wood of Santa Monica, Level 6, won 1st place on Beam and Floor. Anna Pack of Santa Monica, Level 4, finished off the Level 4 Season winning 2nd on Vault at the 2008 Cash Bash in Culver City.
