This spring arts festival has been going for 35 years but the entertainment is up to date with rock, folk, metal, blues, and singer-songwriters. Acts this year include Chevy Metal, Jim Lauderdale & The Dream Players, Jonathan Rice, Brian Wright & The Waco Tragedies, Shurman, Gary Louris, The Living Sisters (Inara George, Eleni Mandell and Becky Stark), Tim Easton and “special guests” to be added. There’s also a parade, holistic therapists, environmental products, and food and beer.

Suzy Williams and Her Solid Senders, May 27,

8:30 and 9:30pm, $10, Temple Bar,

1026 Wilshire Blvd., 310.306.7330.If a 1940s swing-jump blues band fell into a time warp and came out in 2008, they might sound like the Solid Senders. This band has the sense of humor to make that adjustment, plus they have the chops, including an out of sight horn section, a solid rhythm section, a bandleader who also plays vibes, and an extraordinary vocalist in the person of Suzy Williams, the humorous, sensuous, song-writing local treasure that she is. Be there or be much too square.
