What’s Hot:

Lowen and Navarro

Friday, June 20, $20, 8pm, McCabe’s Guitar Shop

3101 Pico Blvd., 310.828.4497.

This singer/songwriter duo have been performing for 20 years, keeping a low but steady profile (although you’ve heard their song craft if you’ve heard Pat Benatar’s “We Belong,” which they wrote). They started their club career at the Breakaway in Venice back in 1998, so they’re returning to familiar turf with this gig at McCabe’s to promote their new album Learning To Fall.

Main Street Summer Solstice

June 22, free, 11am-7:15pm, Main St. between Pico Blvd. and Marine St., mainstreetsm.com.

For eight years now, the Main Street Merchants Association has helped Santa Monica usher in summer with this popular event, which includes local business open houses, a scavenger hunt with prizes from participating businesses, a screening of The Breakfast Club, and so many rock bands that some consider this to be Santa Monica’s Woodstock. Okay, so they’re local cover bands, but they include tributes to Heart, the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Prince, Madonna, Steely Dan, and the Police, plus some original jazz and world music.
