Team Santa Monica Swimmers Excel:

Ten swimmers from Team Santa Monica stood out last month at the United States Lifesaving Association Nationals in Manhattan Beach.

Representing the Los Angeles County Junior Lifeguard All-Star team, six finished in the top three in their age group.

The group consisted of Colette Gulick, age 15, Marisa Purcell, 15, Sara Booth, 14, Toby Contarsy, 13, Meriel Mitsakos, 13, and Wes Gallie, 12.

Others with high finishes were Tristan Marsh, 12, Tiana Marsh, 11, Marja Diaz, 14, and Nick DeVito, 12.

In addition, four Team Santa Monica swimmers competed in the Seal Beach Rough Water Swim. Purcell won her division in the 1,200-yard swim, Tristan Marsh was second in the 800, while Brendan Casey and Mitsakos finished fourth in their age groups.
