Oregon House Speaker Jeff Merkley, who was in Los Angeles fundraising for his current Senate race, visited Lincoln Middle School and spoke to seventh grade classes in the school library on Thursday, October 16. Teachers had used a lesson plan to prep their students for the event. Speaker Merkley talked about the elections, the Senate races going on around the country, issues such as the economy, wars, global warming, and nuclear arms, and took questions from students and staff.
