What a turnabout for the Venice High football team.
After losing all five non-league games at the start of the 2008 season, the Gondoliers went on to win all five of their Western League games to not only earn the league championship, but to qualify for a home game in the first playoff round.
Venice, the No. 7 seed, will host 10th seeded Carson Friday night, November 21, at 7 p.m. Carson, the third place team from the powerful Marine League, also has a 5-5 record.
Venice completed league play with a 24-12 victory over Westchester.
Two Marine League teams were accorded the top playoff seeds – Narbonne is No. 1 and San Pedro No. 2, followed by Taft and Crenshaw.
The L.A. City Section championship game will be played at the Coliseum December 13 at 1 p.m.
