Local Basketball Roundup:

Solomon Singer scored 22 points in Santa Monica High’s 91-71 non-league victory over Hart High. Kunu Shofu and Jerome Hatchett, both contributed 18 as the Vikings improved their record to 8-1. After leading 45-43 at halftime Samohi increased defensive pressure and scored 27 points in the third quarter.

 Samohi then played in the Chaminade Tournament with results unavailable at press time.

In a matchup of local Western League teams, Palisades defeated Venice, 55-41 in the San Fernando Valley Tournament. The teams will meet two more times in league games.

Venice also lost to El Camino Real, 57-47 and won its first game of the season, 69-55 over Chaminade.

 In girls basketball, Santa Monica High’s record stood at 10-2 following a 45-30 win over Beverly Hills. In the first quarter Beverly Hills, the host team in its tournament, scored only two points.

St. Monica routed Malibu, 69-32 in a non-league game. The Lady Mariners have a 6-3 record.
