With Rob Duron beginning his second season as head coach, Santa Monica High has finalized its 2009 baseball schedule.
The defending Ocean League champions will play several games in the Royal Tournament at the beginning of March, then will have non-league games at Mira Costa and Peninsula Highs. The home opener will be April 2 against Hawthorne.
Culver City, which has provided strong competition for Samohi in recent years, isn’t on the schedule until May 12 in the final week of the regular season.
One attraction of the season will be the pitching of senior lefthander Tyler Skaggs, rated as one of the nation’s best prospects. Professional scouts are expected to frequently attend Samohi games.
