Palisades, Venice Make Playoffs:

Both the boys and girls basketball teams from Palisades and Venice Highs have qualified for the Los Angeles City Schools basketball playoffs.

The Palisades boys are seeded ninth in Division 1 and will play at No. 8 Fremont Thursday night, February 19. The winner will play top-seeded Westchester in the second round if the Comets win their initial game.

Venice is competing in Division 2. The Gondoliers are the No. 4 seed and have a first round bye.

In girls play, Palisades is the No. 9 seed in Division 1 and will be at No. 8 Dorsey on Wednesday night, February 18.

Venice is seeded 11th and will play at No. 6 El Camino Real Wednesday.Two Western League teams — Westchester and Fairfax — are favored to reach the boys finals March 6 at USC’s Galen Center.
