Brentwood Overwhelmed By Maranatha:

It isn’t often that Brentwood School is overwhelmed in a football game.

However, that was the case last Friday in a 27-7 Alpha League loss to perennial power Maranatha.

“They took it to us in all phases of the game,” said Brentwood coach Patrick Brown.

It’s apparent the Alpha League is the strongest one in its division and the Eagles will face another stern test this Friday at Campbell Hall. Both Maranatha and Campbell Hall are 3-0 in league games and Brentwood is 2-1.

“It’s unlikely anyone will go through the league undefeated so we’re still in this thing,” said Brown.

Brentwood was held to only 156 yards and couldn’t recover from two early interceptions as Maranatha applied pressure with its aggressive defense.

And the Eagles suffered an injury. Evan Morris was hurt early in the game and didn’t return. In his absence, Greg Oliva played both offense and defense. A week earlier Oliva played only on defense as he’s recovering from

having a tonsil removed.

Brentwood’s highlight was a 56-yard run by backup quarterback Nick Aull.

Brentwood’s overall record is 3-3.
