Haunt No More!

Halloween happenings are many in Santa Monica and for the past 14 years one top attraction was Adam Johnston’s creepy haunted house at 1349 Oak Street. Due to the objections of a neighbor, Johnston is cancelling this year’s installation – literally giving up the ghost! For fans of Johnston’s wildly creative and incredibly kinetic horror machines, all is not lost. In recent years he has turned his obsession into something of a cottage industry and you can view your favorites at his website, poisonprops.com.

One tradition that continues is the dusk-to-dawn “horrorthon” at American Cinematheque’s Aero Theater. The theater will screen six horror flicks starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night with between-film free food, giveaways, trailers, crazy shorts and surprises. Visit americancinematheque.com for details.
