Daughter of Ray and Marion Graham. Elinor was born in Victoria, BC and lived in the Los Angeles area from 1960, where she focused her life through music, theater and community involvement: teaching and learning how to bring more love and justice into the world. She was a member of The Company Theater, The Provisional Theater, Public Works, and a founding member of the WIMS, which each provided a welcome venue for social and emotional issues through music and improvisation.
Her involvement with The Church in Ocean Park began in 1976, and her commitment there was lifelong, serving as the much-cherished Director of Music. She had the special gift of finding and igniting the music in each of us, and her range and profound connection to the music of people, of politics, and of the soul was inspirational. Over her years, she worked as a bookkeeper at Folklore Music, McZand Herbal, and the Norton Family Office.
To those of us who knew and loved her, she was extraordinary: brave, passionate in her commitments, and fierce in her search for truth. Her curiosity and clarity of perception made her a wonderful teacher, friend and mother. We will miss her subtle elegance, gracious presence and the love she taught us all to share.
She is survived by her loving partner Renee, her beloved son Tavish, her sister and brother Gloria and Gordon, and many dear friends. She is remembered and lovingly sustained in each of them.
Memorial services are to be held at The Church in Ocean Park on Saturday the 5th of December at 6 pm. 235 Hill Street, Santa Monica. ph: (310) 399-1631.
Donations in lieu of flowers should be made to the Humane Society and The Church in Ocean Park.
