St. Monica Loses In Tournament Final:

St. Monica’s boys basketball team reached the finals of the St. Anthony tournament for the fourth straight year but lost to the host team Saturday night, 69-61.

The Mariners trailed by 18 points at halftime but went on a 16-0 run to begin the third quarter, making the game competitive.

“St. Anthony has players 6-foot-8 and 6-foot-7,” said St. Monica coach Tony Depa. “Our tallest player is 6-2, but we sped up the game in the third quarter. We have scrappy kids and battle the size disadvantage regularly.”

St Monica won its earlier tournament games easily and has a 6-2 record.
