St. Monica Teams’ Winning Records:

The basketball teams at St. Monica have winning records and are hopeful of gaining CIF playoff berths this season.

The boys are 11-8, the girls are 13-8.

Tony Depa’s boys team most recently lost a Camino Real League game to La Salle, 66-61, but previously defeated St. Paul, 70-40, and Bosco Tech, 67-51.

Earlier this season St. Monica lost to Brentwood, 64-61.

The girls coached by Cherese Charkut edged La Salle, 60-55 and Buckley, 53-50, but lost to St. Bernard, 58-49.

Before that the Mariners were on a seven-game winning streak that included a 54-61 vicyory over Brentwood.

Cory Laguardia and Kaitlin Wilcox are averaging 13 points per game and Laguardia is the leading rebounbder with eight. Mitch Chortkoff
