Simply Shakespeare:

A star-studded fundraiser will celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Shakespeare Center Los Angeles’ Simply Shakespeare at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, Monday April 12 at 7:30 p.m. A performance reading at the event from “Much Ado about Nothing” will feature Julia Roberts, Ewan McGregor, Keanu Reeves and Helen Hunt, to name a few.

Power couple Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks will be part of the reading under the direction of Ben Donenberg. Jackson Browne will perform during the show, along with Sara and Sean Watkins.

The non-profit theater company is celebrating its 25th anniversary bringing innovative theater to the city. The center has been producing award-winning, free outdoor programs since 1985. Recent budget cuts to the Los Angeles Unified School District’s arts program has led Shakespeare Center actors and youth programming to further engage Los Angeles children in live theater and performing arts.

Shakespeare Center Los Angeles is auctioning-off a speaking role in the show, with the winner participating in rehearsal with the cast, a VIP after-party and a signed photograph with the entire cast. The group opened the role on eBay, which closed April 4. All the proceeds from the auction will benefit the center and its summer youth employment program.

Tickets cost $350 and $500 and to reserve your tickets, please call 310-201-5033 or email Lauran@lpaevents.com.
