SMC’s Independence Day Festivities: Fireworks Seen Around City Saturday Night

Celebrate America

Santa Monica residents who were lucky enough to look east shortly after sunset on Saturday, June 26 were given a free treat in the form of fireworks. For those who didn’t know, the unexplained visual and audio bursts were a wondrous surprise.

For those still wondering it was “Celebrate America,” Santa Monica College’s annual Independence Day festivities – which took place the weekend before the Fourth of July.

The gates opened at 7 p.m. to Corsair Field Stadium where a picnic, a global food fair, the J.D. Hall Band, KCRW DJ Dan Wilcox, and other entertainment greeted attendees. There was even face painting and giveaways. To cap it all off, a exceptionally thrilling fireworks display capped off a fantastic evening.
