Event Info, Parking, and more: Santa Monica Is Ready To Glow Tonight

After months of preparation Santa Monica will be glowing tonight from 7 p.m. – 3 a.m. with more than 20 artist commissioned installations scattered along the city’s beach, pier, and Palisades Park.

The Opening Ceremony for Glow 2010 begins at 7 p.m. with a welcome from the Mayor of Santa Monica and other dignitaries in front of the entrance of the Santa Monica Pier.

Many Santa Monica businesses will be staying open until 4 a.m. and will be offering event specials. Food truck courts will be located on the beach north and south of the pier. An updated list of Glow specials is posted on www.santamonica.com/glow.

Radio station 89.9 KCRW created a free Glow Soundscape guide for the event which includes a navigation tool with details about where to find each installation and each artist talking about his or her installation. It can be downloaded at www.kcrw.com/glow or you can download it directly to a mobile device at http://newmedia.kcrw.com/glow/index.html. A program & map will also be available from the Palisades Park info booth, or a download for an iPhone & Android can be found at www.glowsantamonica.org.

Getting to and from Glow is expected to be challenging due to the volume of people expected. Detailed information about coming by bike, car or mass transit can be found at www.glowsantamonica.org/gettingtoglow.
