Samohi Girls Basketball Win, Boys Lose: Samohi Girls Basketball Win, Boys Lose

While Santa Monica High School girls basketball team easily handled Ocean League foe Beverly Hills 52-31 on Wednesday night, Beverly Hills boys basketball left North Gym with a win, handing the Viking a 65-62 loss.

“We did well, we played as a team,” Samohi point guard Kristina Johnson said of the win, which snaps a two-game losing skid for the Lady Vikings. “We rebounded better and everybody played pretty well and had fun playing.”

Lady Vikings play another league game on Friday at Morningside before another big test – in the form of top-ranked Long Beach Poly on Saturday.

“I’m always confident in my team to compete with anybody and possibly win, but the way we’ve been playing lately, we just have to focus and on who we are playing next – Morningside.”

Samohi boys basketball have now lost six games in a row as they look to rebound at Morningside on Friday. Tip off for the girls game is 6 p.m; the boys is 7:30 p.m.
