Microsoft Donates Technology to Santa Monica Boys and Girls Club:

Mayor Richard Bloom helps kids from the Santa Monica Boys and Girls Club cut the ribbon for the new Center of Excellence on Wednesday.

Microsoft selected the Santa Monica Boys and Girls Club (SMBGC) among only ten locations across the nation to receive a large donation in video, music and computer equipment to start the new Club Tech Center of Excellence, which was unveiled on Wednesday at the SMBGC’s location.

Microsoft is helping the Club Tech program evolve to bring technology access and skills training to children. Children in Club Tech will learn technical skills, critical thinking, project management and problem solving while working with Web and graphic design, digital film editing and digital music composition softwares.

There are currently one million kids and teens who participate in the program.
