The Southern California Football Association announced last week their offensive and defensive Pacific Conference players of the week. Both were Corsairs.
Quarterback Alfonso Medina and defensive back Rico Wright were recognized for their performances in SMC’s 33-9 win over Santa Barbara City College on Saturday, Oct. 1.
Medina, a freshman from Venice High School, received the honor after completing 22 of 29 passes for 339 yards, including four for touchdowns.
He is averaging 233 yards per game and has thrown for 1168 total yards and 13 touchdowns through five games.
Wright, a freshman from Mira Costa High School, was rewarded for his two key interceptions in the game. He helped the Corsair defense force six turnovers on the day and shut out the Vaqueros in the final three quarters of play.
