On Saturday, Oct. 8, at 9:04 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were on patrol in the 1600 block of Court 11 (an alley east of 11th Street) when they saw a man who was camping illegally at the location. The officers spoke with the camper and discovered that he had several warrants out for his arrest.
The officers, after asking, and receiving permission to do so, looked inside that camper’s pockets, where they discovered drug paraphernalia.
The officers then found a rock of speed (methamphetamine) in the camper’s backpack.
The camper was then arrested and taken to jail.
He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, and local warrants.
The bail for this 25-year-old homeless man was set at $12,580.
