Beth Shir Shalom Begin Pre-Kindergarten Class Tours:

The Beth Shir Shalom ECC starts in September and runs through June.

Beth Shir Shalom Temple has announced Feb. 20 as the starting date for tours of its pre-kindergarten class.

Part of Beth Shir Shalom’s Early Childhood Center (ECC), the class is accredited by the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Called “Gesher” (Hebrew for bridge), the class is also known as “transitional kindergarten.” It is designed for children born in the latter part of the year and those who need an extra year before moving on to kindergarten.

Such kindergarten programs are expected to be much more in demand this year, since the LAUSD has recently pushed the birthday cutoff age for kindergarten progressively earlier.

Structured to be more challenging than the class for four-year-old students and more flexible than a traditional kindergarten classroom, the Gesher class keeps a low teacher-student ratio to help ensure that the children get the full amount of attention they need.

The Beth Shir Shalom ECC, which begins with a toddler class for 18-month-old children, starts in September and runs through June.

For information and to schedule a private tour, please call 310.829.2517.

Beth Shir Shalom is located at 1827 California Street, Santa Monica.
